Sunshine1700, Odd Interface, But It Works I agree with others that the interface is odd and not the most intuitive.
But it isn’t terrible, either. Playing around with it for a few minutes or so is all you need. There’s also the online help which is clearly written and effectively-illustrated.
A major negative for me is that you have to guess how long it will take to generate a given puzzle. The longer you wait, the greater the number of your words that are included.
But while you’re waiting, there is no progress bar or indication of the number of words included thus far. You literally have to guess. When you’re tired of waiting, you click “Finish” to see your puzzle. If you’re not satisfied with the result, you click the “Build” button again and take another guess at the wait time.
You repeat this process until you get a puzzle with which you’re satisfied. Despite the somewhat wonky interface, however, the app does work. I’ve been unable to find a better alternative, so I will probably go ahead and purchase the full version of this app. Sunshine1700, Odd Interface, But It Works I agree with others that the interface is odd and not the most intuitive. So, I downloaded Puzzle Maker Light, whipped out a crossword puzzle which was great and then just before class I went to print it out. SORRY, you need to load Puzzle Maker Pro, if you want to print out an X-word puzzle with more than 10 words. Well, why didn’t it tell me that when I reached the 10 words! Like a lot of teachers, I do not have enough prep time and even though I did the puzzle at home, I did not get a note that it would not work, until I needed to print.! Very frustrating. So be warned, if you want a puzzle with more than 10 words, this is not the app for you. I do not know about the word search feature, but would expect the same treatment.!
So naturally, I downloaded the Puzzle Maker Pro and got it printed out seemlessly, but I better be able to do a puzzle with 50 words for what it cost. I will post a review for that app after I have used it for a while.
